X-Country Recount
X-Country Recount
It was clean, green grass. We had nerves rushing through our bodies as we walked onto the Cutler´s farm. We walked for a while and enjoyed the view. It was cool because there were rivers flowing and birds whistling. We all wondered if the track was different.
On the ride out we were excited. While Dad drove us out to the to the Cutler farm, we listened to music. In the ute, we had Blake, Quenty, Barnabas, Dad and me. We walked down the awesome muddy track to the starting line.
We got ready for our race and we were pumped. Mrs Cutler Said ¨GO!¨ We ran down the slippery muddy Track, unaware of what lay ahead. Scott and I were spinning yarns. He was ahead of me until he started to slow down. I saw the opportunity to pass him, so I took it. I heard Mrs Dromgool yell ¨Go Ben!¨ I waved back as I was on the hilltop. Once I heard people yell for me. I carried on running until I reached the finish line. As I approached the finish line I heard Quenty and Kaden yelling ¨Slide in the Mud!!¨ So I did. It was the best feeling to cross the finish line and slide in the mud. With sloppy mud all over my hands, Mrs Watson handed me The number 5, meaning I came 5th. I had a big sigh of relief when I got the card because I had got through to the zones. I was so relieved. After the race we were eager to get clean, so Kaden, Quenty and I had a quick wash in the shallow stream. We then went looking for shoes on the track and saw that two teachers were already gathering shoes. So we went back to the bags where everyone was packing up.
It was so much fun and I can't wait for next year´s cross country.

Limerick Poem
The Matariki stars shine, way up above
In the sky they fly like a dove,
They glisten and twinkle
With much delight, they sprinkle,
A new year above
